Fresh each year

New Leaves, old wall, Washington Depot, Connecticut © Steven Willard

I had just stepped out of Marty’s Cafe and was on my way to the car when I happened to glance over at the riverbank across the street. The bright green of new leaves against that ocher stain stopped me in my tracks. I reached in the car for the camera and tripod and crossed the street to make some exposures.

Each year the wall gets older

the stain a little bolder

But each year the leaves sprout fresh and new.
