Birds on nervous wings
Like skaters with arms outstretched
Barely in control
We have had several days and nights of gusty winds. The sort that bring down tree limbs and whip flags to tatters; strong enough to rock my RV even on its hydraulic jack stands. I haven’t heard of any serious damage, but that doesn’t mean there hasn’t been any. But it’s the birds I wonder about. How they manage when the very air they move through and live in becomes a danger to them. Perhaps I make too much of it, but I have seen them struggle to maintain control as they are tossed about like fishing boats on a stormy sea. It is their natural environment, the place they must be, and yet it seems to have turned against them, at least for a few days.
