It was a beautiful evening, mild with a light breeze, and every evidence of a colorful sunset. Driving along a country road I saw this vignette, and quickly pulled off the road to make some exposures.
I have a soft spot in my heart for images that imply that something has just happened, or is about to. I can almost “feel” the presence of someone who has just gotten up and left the scene, or will be coming to sit and enjoy the sunset. To add to my feeling was the sound of music drifting across the lawn from the house out of view to the right. Was that the sound of ice cubes being dropped into glasses? It was that kind of moment.

Looks like a perfect evening to me. Beautiful!

Exactly! I can’t remember the last time I saw someone playing croquet, or played it myself for that matter. That’s sad, it’s perfect for just such times as this.
