The platinum look

I love it when a photograph reveals itself and all I have to do is put a frame around it and press the shutter. In this case these dried blossoms in contrast with the barnwood ensured there would be plenty of texture. The flat light meant I could play with the contrast and sharpness sliders followed by the addition of a slight amount of blur to achieve the look I wanted. I removed most of the color and tweaked what was left to approach the look of a platinum print which is what I visualized from the beginning. Like I said, I like it when all I have to do is press the shutter.

  1. Right. Love this. Love your deliberate understatement. Thanks so much for the step-by-step. It’s so nice when a really fine photographer shares his thinking and method. (That means you, sir.) Thanks!
