Textures of Spring

imageSpring pasture, Bridgewater, Connecticut © Steven Willard

We are experiencing the first really warm days of Spring, those days when the grass turns an emerald green, and the trees pop with blossoms and new leaves. As I stood on Town Line road with the sun on my back and a light breeze to cool my shoulders, the thing that struck me most today was the textures. I saw the grass waving in that breeze, the small white blossoms on a tree I couldn’t name, and the lacey tendrills of new leaves on the tree in the forground. Textures; textures and light, as the clouds came and went, and the sweat dried on my shirt.
