Bush, barn, fence and tree

When I came apon this scene I was reminded of a book I have someplace. It is by a British photographer whose name escapes me just now. He published a book about using 35mm cameras for landscape work, making the most of the small format for deep depth of field and the film grain to impart a gritty realism to his images. If someone out there knows his name I’d appreciate hearing it.

I feel this is one of those images that is on the fence-no pun intended. It is made up of elements that might, in other circumstance, come together in a better composition, but here those elements are all over the place. The tone and textures work well enough, but I’m uncertain about the composition. I like it and maybe that’s enough.
