Back of the house

Why the back? It must be the contrarian in me, but I found the back of the house to be more interesting than the formal front that normally gets all the attention. The front is where “company” is shown into the house, the work is done ’round back. Besides, at this time of day the light was much more interesting.

Of course this doesn’t mean that I might not photograph the front some other time; I’m keeping my options open. I think this would be good advice if I was in the advice business, or if anyone ever asked me; “Don’t just look at the front, explore and keep your options open”. Not that anyone asked.

  1. Is the saying “Great minds think alike?” or just “Don’t mind if we think alike.” Not sure. But love your shot. The repetition of roofline and chimneys reminds me so much of — wait — you!

  2. I think the best stuff (for people like us) usually is around back: the pretense is all at the front.

This is a very nice shot – I like the repetition of the gabled roofs.
